Saturday Morning Musings

Sen. Barbara Boxer schools John McCain, Trump and Republicans on ISIS

I came across this on my Facebook feed (it was liked by a friend) and thought I’d read it just for fun. It’s eye-opening to get a glimpse of their bizarre world-view. I’d like to think that this represents only a small minority of Americans but there are too many people that vote for Democrats for that to be the case.

It’s clear that a large percentage of Americans don’t like our country and don’t like our Constitution, but they won’t leave because they do like the prosperity that comes with the principles that they reject. I don’t think it’s possible to reason with these people and I expect that their numbers will continue to grow over the years. A nation divided against itself cannot stand.

I say this because Jesus was quite clear that those who accept Him and His way of doing things are always going to be a minority. What we had in this country at the outset was a disproportionate number of people that actually accepted the truths contained in the Bible, even if only partially. That anomaly is quickly becoming less and less prominent and it shows.

So what should we do? As I see it, our options are as follows:

Option 1: Watch our country slowly decay and disappear as more and more people reject its founding principles. This seems to me to be the most likely scenario. In this scenario we try to take advantage of the slim majority we have left to restore our country to what it once was through legislative or other action such as a convention of the states. This could possibly work for a while but I expect it to eventually fail for the aforementioned reasons.

Option 2: “Give me liberty, or give me death!” Start a new American Revolution. The problem with this is that the situation is much different today. Back then, we had a significant number of people who believed in liberty all gathered together in the same place, and they were being subjugated to a country across the sea that did not share their values. This is the recipe for a successful revolution. Other successful revolutions in history have generally involved a large majority of like-minded people who all live in the same place being oppressed by a far off country, or sometimes by a minority of powerful people from within their own country. This is not the case today. Our oppressors are numerous and live among us. Even if a revolution were to be successful, it would only serve to put ourselves in the role of oppressor as we force people who don’t share our values to do things our way. This is not something to be pursued.

Option 3: Find a way to recreate a disproportionate number of people who believe in liberty, all gathered together in one place, like maybe Texas and whatever surrounding states were necessary to accommodate our numbers. This would be difficult to accomplish. Even if all freedom loving people could be persuaded to move to the same area, how do you persuade the opposition to leave? They always want to stay and enjoy the blessings of freedom even as they work to undermine it. The only way this could be accomplished is to make Texas attractive to the right people and inhospitable to the others, and then hope people will choose to move. Liberals seem to be scared of guns, so maybe we could pass a law that every Texas citizen must be trained in the use of firearms, and every Texas household must have an AR-15. That has the added benefit of preparing us to defend ourselves when we eventually declare our independence. We would then have to enforce strict border security and only allow people to immigrate if they are willing to adopt our way of doing things (kind of like what the United States used to do). It’s a nice thought even if it is quite unlikely.

So after thinking about it, I reckon I’ll just sit tight and wait for Jesus to get back. I don’t think it will be too much longer now anyway. If you actually read this far then I am impressed by your perseverance. Have a blessed day!

Make Your Own AR-15

I Made an Untraceable AR-15 ‘Ghost Gun’ in My Office—And It Was Easy

Interesting article. For anyone who thinks gun control is a solution – good luck with that.

As adults, we should recognize that guns exist and that bad guys will have them. In a society where having a gun is rare, anyone who does get one becomes more powerful than most people. Governments will always have guns. Some bad guys will get guns illegally. Some bad guys will endeavor to join the government.

In the USA, we don’t allow governments and bad guys to be the only ones that wield that kind of power. To borrow a line from the Incredibles, when everyone’s super, no one will be. We need to make guns commonplace, and we need to teach firearm safety starting at an early age. High schools should have gun ranges. Any student that misbehaves in their handling of guns should be disciplined physically, because beatings are preferable to death.

These are the realities that we must face. Next time you hear someone advocate gun control, offer them a lollipop.

Want an AR-15?

I Love My Children, So You’ll Never Take My AR-15

I want one. And I want my wife and children to know how to use it and have experience with it. It seems that there are more and more people every year that have no understanding whatsoever of how the world works and how to deal with it. Too many people are inexperienced with guns and seem to live in a fantasy world where the right person could sign a piece of paper with the right words on it and then evil people who want to kill us or take what we have would just be completely unable to obtain a gun. I guess they must also believe that there are no users of illegal drugs because they are completely unavailable to anyone. I don’t post on Facebook much but I am irritated that there are so many idiots out there that vote. Useful idiots who think that everything will be better if only we make the government more powerful so that our smart, benevolent leaders can make everything better for us. Because it’s not possible for evil people to fool us in this country. Evil people always come right out and say that they want more money and more power so that they can benefit themselves. The ones who promise to make everything better can be trusted to wield as much power as necessary to make their promises come true. History proves this out, right?
